New York-based Klein Sun Gallery (凱尚畫廊) will present A Colorful World?, a solo exhibition of new sculptures, photographs, and lightboxes by Liu Bolin on view from September 11 through November 1, 2014.
A Colorful World? is a reference to the countless multicolored advertisements and consumer goods that cloud today’s understanding of oppression and injustice. Through lightboxes that address ideas of disappearance, this exhibition contains detailed painted sculptures, as well as a continuation of Liu Bolin’s Hiding in the City series. Liu Bolin’s immense artistic versatility is revealed by an expression of his perspective on global issues of culture, society, and politics.
Born in China’s Shandong province in 1973, Liu Bolin earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Shandong College of Arts and his Master of Fine Arts from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.
A Colorful World? is accompanied by the release of “Liu Bolin,” a new monograph published by La Martinière Groupe, which includes a limited edition Artist Luxury version.
Liu Bolin will create photographs for his new Target Series during the week preceding his opening. For further information, please contact the gallery at (212) 255-4388 or info@kleinsungallery.com.
